Boomtown, a festival that combines music and theatre like no other, has announced the full line up for Metropolis; the immersive, futuristic themed district which dominates the skyline with intricate sets and a soundtrack of the very best in house and disco. It’s the latest in the series of 12 different line up instalments across varying districts, which has seen the likes of grammy nominated Ms. Lauryn Hill, Prophets of Rage and The Streets through to Carl Cox, Four Tet and Amelie Lens top the highly anticipated festival bill.
The 66,000 capacity five day event takes place in Winchester over 7th – 11th August and showcases over 80 musical genres within its sprawling city limits! The Metropolis district main stage Pagoda Plaza, will see the welcome return of the stage hosts LGTBQ+ party collective Little Gay Brother, bringing with them their own unique brand of celebration and projecting values inline with that of Boomtown’s overall approach of inclusivity, not exclusivity. The Pagoda Plaza will be hosting daily takeovers from a diverse spectrum of international selectors and and special guests representing the magnitude of the variety within the house and disco scenes.
After a total Little Gay Brother takeover on the first full day of the fair on Thursday with their own in house DJs, Mella Dee and his label Warehouse_Music will be taking control on the Friday, presenting a global bill that features the techno of Tel Aviv’s Dr Rubenstein, Bristol based producer and label owner Shanti Celeste, Melbourne selector CC:DISCO!, Sweden’s Baba Stiltz and retro house grooves from Irish born, Berlin bred Sally C. Headlining straight from the Detroit underground, is the incredibly skillful DJ Bone.
On Saturday Horse Meat Disco return to the festival bringing an inclusive celebration of disco and electronic music to the dancefloor; including eclectic, disco influenced sounds from Mighty Mouse, Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell as The 2 Bears with their blend of soulful house and disco, and legendary US house DJ Kenny Dope. On Sunday Patrick Topping makes his Boomtown debut with an exciting festival exclusive, the first ever “Patrick Topping All Day Long” on Pagoda Plaza. Expect to be taken on a journey, with plenty of special guests on the way!
Hidden amongst the LED lit streets is long standing Boomtown street venue Dubtendo, who are presenting an exciting and eclectic line-up featuring special alternative sets from headline artists like the High Contrast Disco Set, drum and bass from Benny Page ft: MC SYE, JFB, Phibes and more over three days.
