Sole Provider
Much like the Dover sole, slim fit and looking mighty tasty, here we have Valensole a three-piece outfit from Southampton,(Creeper second album please….) who bring with them an “Imposter” out of the shadows and into the “Cold Light Of Day”. Although it is a mini album, it is uninhibited by the societal expectations and is quite happy to present itself to the world and its mother, Lucky for us, I say, when you get to sit in on a “catastrophic lesson” with an imposter for a teacher. There’s a great chorus here as frontman Elliott whispers sweet nothings through the speakers.
“We gotta stick together, so we can make it through this heavy weather” which is sound advice from these new radicals (weren’t they a band?) A little bit hippy, a little bit trippy as this records takes on a psychedelic feel. They ask us to “keep it together” – ha-ha no chance of that mate.
Take a dive “into the sea” with this most noble of creatures and enjoy their efforts, for a “syndrome” by any other name would still have us “out of sight, out of mind. always getting left behind.”
Our progression is enabled by “sipping on alcohol, don’t wanna waste it all” as “we can’t let it fall apart” but maybe it is out of our hands and falling apart is just another step in this crazy world.
“Everlasting” sees some truly stonking fretwork and we say adieu to our friends and thank them for this no nonsense, and candid adventure.
Adding to the ever- increasing group of sole traders in the industry, they are brave and true and really socking it to the “staple wasters”.
