Run Rivers has unveiled the video for new single ‘Some Kind of Mystery’ and revealed details of the release.
Out 22nd February via AWAL, ‘Some Kind of Mystery’ is a beautifully understated, dreamy track with the cutting-edge production we’ve come to expect from Run Rivers.
The cinematic video is directed by Xavier Perkins whose recent projects include commercials for Samsung, Guinness, Nike, HSBC, Canon and a Google story which was awarded a Cannes Lion for storytelling.
Chris explains…
“Some of the lyrics were inspired by an art installation I went to with Xavier Perkins about an astronaut’s experiences in space. At the time I didn’t expect the idea to turn into anything, but I guess it kind of stuck in my head and when I was working on the song further down the line it seemed to fit.”
About the video…
“Working with Xavier is great, he always comes up with something that I love and when the song was finished I approached him about making a video for it. He made it from film he shot in Sweden a few summers ago that has a lot of mysterious nature in dark and golden light images. I like how he’s put it together in a way that’s not too literal, that still really captures the mood of the song.”
Mixed by long term collaborator Suneil Pusari (Michael Kiwanuku, Sampha).
String arrangement by Matthew Kelly.
