Liverpool based Queen Zee’s self-titled debut is a glitter fist whack of more-ish Glam tinged Trash ‘n’ Roll. Opener ‘Loner’ licks Punk-Pop’s tired eyes before disregarding the stale past by splashing fluorescent paint all over it’s shocked face. Next up is the speeded up Jamie T chorus of ‘Lucy Fur’ which steals a few Iggy lyrics and why not, before a concussed almost disoriented ‘Sissy Fists’ stumbles onto an early morning pavement of pain. ‘Idle Crown Mastered’ is littered with F-bombs, a modern Goth feel and an addictive nature that creeps into the skull before aggressively spreading down the spine. The grebo sleaze fest of ‘Porno’ slides down the bar of decency while ‘Victim Age Mastered’ has a soft Punky big apple running on quaaludes centre. Both ‘Boy’ and the Brit-Pop nightmare of ‘Hunger Pains’ punch waaaay below the belt. Queen Zee may have something that every other band is looking for…it, they have it. The closing duo of the Babyshamblolic ‘Anxiety’ and the green with lust spurned envy cut ‘I Hate Your New Boyfriend’. 2019 has some huge anniversary’s, albums and tours happening but Queen Zee may just eclipse a few with this devastingly raucous self-titled debut. This is some album.
