Interview: Nowhere To Be Found talk upcoming track ‘Traverse’ featuring Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire

Forming in 2014, Alternative Metal group Nowhere To Be Found’s success has seen them go from strength to strength.  2016 saw the launch of their debut album, Safe Haven, entirely recorded and produced by the band themselves which hit top 10 national digital sales in its first week.
After a lineup change in 2017, the band became reborn, now as a quartet with João Quintais (lead guitar) and with a new, heavier sound. The same year saw them collaborate with Emily Lazar, of September Mourning while 2018 saw the commencement of their upcoming album, set to be released early 2019. Nowhere To Be Found’s second studio album is currently in the production stage, with Swedish Producer Henrik Udd at Wrecords Studios and is set for release early 2019.

Their latest track Traverse, taken from the album, is due to be released February 7th, mastered by New York based Grammy award winner Ted Jensen (Metallica, Green Day, Deftones, Sipknot) features vocals from renowned Metalcore band Memphis May Fire.

We managed to catch up with Nowhere To Be Found as they talked about the upcoming track and more!

So how pumped are you for the release of Traverse?
We are on the edge of an anxiety atack. Super excited (why wouldn’t we?!) but also heavily nervous about the reactions. Huge landmark for us.

Can you tell us something about the single that no one else knows?
the song is actually NOT a love story but a story about a love gone bad, an abusive relation

Will this be any different to your previous releases?
Hugely. We took the time and the effort to make it happen the way we really wanted to. Huge single, recorded with superstar names, top notch video, international pr to help getting this to the industry out there.

How was it working with Memphis May Fire’s Matty Mullins on this and how did come about?
Well Matty a MMF’s always been a huge inspiration and influence on our sound and after recording the song we decided to send him an e-mail, a simple humble e-mail from artist to artist, inviting him to participate. not 48hrs later he had accepted it, we just couldn’t believe it. Just showed the immense human being he truly is.

So you are working on a new album with Swedish Producer Henrik Udd, how did you start working with Henrik?
We met Henrik through a common friend, Wilson Silva, who is also the drummer for More Than A Thousand and the owner of WRecords Studios where we are recording the album and things aligned very fast. We sent the songs to Henrik, he saw the potential and a couple of months later we were in the studio recording. So the answer is good songs + a common friend.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
We’ll at this point we are so stunned by Holy Hell that the answer would have to be Architects. The depth of their music, the sheer violence and beauty on the instrumental side, and the way they build their harmonies and synths… we would love to work with them. They seem super cool guys.

Will you be touring at all in 2019?
We hope so, we are currently discussing an european tour and an asian tour as well. But things are always very hard and can go very slow for small bands like ours, with no record deal nor big international booking agent. But being on the road is what we love the most.
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
Mostly spend time together outside the rehearsing room and with our families. We have been friends since high school so we we’re close friends long before being band mates and we actually love to be together and our families as well.
