A message to Deaf Havana’s Max Britton following his band departure

Dear Max,

You don’t know me but I kinda feel like I know you. I have lived my whole life through music, it has been my only source of comfort in my highs, my lows (mainly lows), my victories and my defeats (mainly defeats), all of which I have weathered with music from the extensive rock/punk/metal genre.

I read with a deep sadness today that you have decided to leave Deaf Havana – a band that I have an enormous respect and love for.

I understand your reasons, but I can’t contain my troubled heart when I read these messages, a bit like when MCR called it a day.

I’m glad I got the chance to meet you at the HMV Birmingham in store event recently, a moment I will always treasure. I am hoping to be at the concert too next year. As a fan, I only see the end product, I don’t see the pressures, anxieties and tensions that occur behind the scenes. Undoubtedly, they are sometimes well documented in the press and the fans wait on tenterhooks as to what will unfold. This news was unexpected, but I can only imagine the complexities you must have endured before arriving at this decision. It goes without saying that we all need to take care of our health first, if that is in check then everything else will fall neatly in place.

I thank you for your contribution to the band and I wish you all the best in all you do in future, and I only wish the best for Deaf Havana too.

Today, however, I truly feel like I lost a friend.

Stay safe, stay well.

Azra
