Singer-songwriter Cory Wells has released a heartfelt rendition of the christmas classic ‘Blue Christmas’. The song was originally written by Billy Hayes and Jay Johnson in the 1940’s and was most notably performed and recorded by Elvis Presley in 1957. Wells offers his own unique take on a song that’s been a holiday staple for generations of lonesome fans.
“Relationship problems and tragedies can happen any time of the year. Christmas is definitely a rough time to be without someone you love. I chose this song for everyone going through that. Just remember you aren’t alone and it’s okay to feel sadness even when most people seem happy.” – Cory Wells
Wells recently joined the roster of Pure Noise Records, who re-released all of his previous music and debuted a video for his single “Walk Away.” He’s currently working on his next record, which will be released in 2019.
In a previous musical life, Wells played in various metal groups and was briefly a live member of the band Movements before they signed with Fearless Records. These days, he’s focused on his solo, acoustic career which has taken off since the release of his 2017 debut EP, How To Tear Apart The Ones You Love. The success led to a memorable performance at Taste of Chaos in front of 16,000 people and the subsequent release of new singles “End of a Good Thing” and “Walk Away,” which have collectively been streamed over 2.8 million times now.
