Cobalt Chapel announce ‘Variants’ and share new track

Cobalt Chapel, the psychedelic folk-rock pairing of Cecilia Fage (Matt Berry & The Maypoles) and Jarrod Gosling (I Monster, Regal Worm) release ‘Variants’, the companion piece to their debut album, on 25th January 2019 through Klove. ‘Variants’ is a selection of tracks remixed, reincarnated and reimagined featuring their distinctive blend of ghostly choral vocals and vintage organs stripped back and filtered through a spectral prism of dreamlike drones and psychedelics; using Mellotron, cassette loops, effects, accordion, found sounds, field recordings, and sound collage, the album is transformed into a hallucinatory soundtrack of cosmic hymns.Check out new single ‘Who are the Strange (Variant)’ below!

Cobalt Chapel made their dynamic live debut at Festival No.6, having been invited to play on the Finders Keepers curated stage by Andy Votel. This was swiftly followed by an invite from Dylan Carlson’s Earth to support them on their UK tour. Since the release of their first album ‘Cobalt Chapel’, their live performances have included The Courtyard and Green Man Festivals, Tramlines Festival, This is Psychedelia, The Golden Lion in Todmorden and Koko – “… a powerful and mesmerizing set… the performance of this tight outfit was all encompassing and breath-taking” Shindig! Magazine”, “…eerie and spellbinding” The Quietus.

Following this summer’s ‘Mountain’ EP and while recording their next album, Cobalt Chapel were asked to remix Emma Tricca’s track ‘Winter, My Dear’, fusing her sublime folk with their unique brand of haunting psych; their collaboration will be released on 30th November.
