Live Review: The Story So Far at Southampton’s Engine Rooms

The Story So Far played to a packed out Southampton Engine Rooms last month as Citizen and All get Out supported on the night. In what was their last tour date of the UK tour, lead singer Parker Cannon and the band certainly put everything into their set. Citizen and All Get Out certainly warmed up the already sweaty crowd as the crowd waited patiently for the main event. The set was fairly early compared to most gigs but this was because of the annual Alt Ball that was going on after the night had finished. The Californian quintet certainly didn’t disappoint as they went straight into the set playing ‘Nerve’ then ‘Proper Dose’. Parker started saying ‘Nice on bruva’ which entertained the crowd and certainly showed that the band were embracing the British culture. ‘Things I Can’t Change’ and ‘Out of It’ quickly followed before Parker took some time out to thank promoter Ricky Bates from The Joiners that made this gig possible in the first place. The band continued to play bangers such as ‘Out of It’ and ‘Let it Go’. There was plenty of crowd surfing throughout the night as fans wanted to be closer to the stage. ‘Empty Space’ and ‘Quicksand’ were the last two songs played on the night before a special moment occurred on the encore. The band played arguably one of their famous songs ‘Clairvoyant’ as the crowd sang along and clapped their hands. Everyone was capturing this moment on their phones as it was one of those moments where you could just appreciate the band and almost connect with them. Overall it was a great night and I’m sure The Story So Far will return to the UK in no time!
