mewithoutYou Release New Music Video For ‘Julia (or, ‘Holy to the LORD’ on the Bells of Horses)’

mewithoutYou recently released their seventh full-length, ‘[Untitled]’, on Big Scary Monsters. The ambitious and critically acclaimed album pulls elements from mewithoutYou’s past, present, and future to create a body of work that somehow feels satisfyingly familiar yet thrillingly fresh. The band have now released their brand new music video for album standout, ‘Julia (or, ‘Holy to the LORD’ on the Bells of Horses)’. The video puts an Orwellian spin on a classic scene from ‘Back To The Future’, playing on the ominous themes of ‘[Untitled]’. NPR noted, “References to 1984 are made throughout the song’s lyrics — which is itself titled after the novel’s character Julia — and matching dystopian imagery sinisterly unfurls throughout the visual treatment.”

Since their formation in 2001, mewithoutYou have never stopped moving forward. Across six full-length albums and a handful of EPs, the Philadelphia band—who have been labeled everything from experimental punk to post-hardcore to indie rock—have always put a premium on progression, never anchoring themselves to a single sound and instead gracefully wandering across stylistic lines. It’s that same spirit that informs both ‘[Untitled]’ and the ‘[untitled] e.p.’, a companion piece that was surprise released just prior to the full-length.

mewithoutYou are currently in the midst of their U.S. headlining tour.
