On a scale of one to ten, this track is an Eleven. Brutai are back and they mean business with an eerily epic track inspired by the Netflix series Stranger Things. ‘Upside Down’ is the first song that the band have released since their debut album ‘Born’ in November 2016. You could say, the band have been ‘reborn’. ‘Upside Down’ serves as an interlude to album 2, which the band are currently writing and recording. Brutai’s second album, yet to be titled, is set for a mid 2019 release.
Lyrically, the track tells of recent turbulent times that the band have been through. As a rebuttal to these difficulties, the track encourages humanity to try and see the world through someone else’s eyes, before they make decisions that they might later on regret. Brutai’s story will further unfold with their next single release, details to be revealed in early 2019.
Felix Lawrie, vocals and guitars, says this about ‘Upside Down’
“Upside Down is semi-inspired by the series Stranger Things. It relates to people being in situations that they can’t see a way out of, and it’s about asking people for help. It’s about being in an ‘upside down’ universe and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. Empathy is the core emotion we hope people take away from this. The soundscapes are somewhat eerie and we felt Halloween was the perfect time to launch this track as an interlude to our new material from album 2.”
‘Upside Down’ will certainly keep Stranger Things fans occupied until the next season, and Brutai have done an astonishing job in creating what is essentially a rock song with epic soundscapes, intricate piano parts, 80’s inspired synths and arena ready vocal melodies.
Fans can download the track in any format they like from http://www.brutai.bandcamp.com alongside merch bundles and the final physical copies of the band’s debut album ‘Born’.
‘Upside Down’ is also available on iTunes and Spotify.
Brutai will return to the stage in December for the Incendia Music Christmas Party as the headline act. The band have previously been seen performing at the likes of Download Festival, Progpower Europe, Bloodstock Festival, Euroblast, and more. The band will also perform at HRH Metal in February.
