With just weeks to go until the launch of their debut album ‘South Of OK’, London punks STRANGE PLANES have shared a second single and music video titled ‘Darkness Here’ together with news of an exciting collaboration.
Watch ‘Darkness Here’ below!
To coincide with the release the band has announced it will team up with a popular North London microbrewery to bring forth it’s very own brand of beer. Named ‘South Of IPA’ the drink has been carefully crafted by Muswell Hillbilly Brewers and will be available at the band’s album launch party. Commenting on the news, guitarist/vocalist Ellis Slater said:
“We were really keen to involve local businesses in the making of our album wherever we could. It’s been great to team up with Muswell Hillbilly Brewers, they are great at what they do, and this beer is a testament to that. It’s a red ale with hints of blood orange which is perfect for Halloween!”
Anyone wanting to purchase a bottle of the IPA will be able to do so at the band’s official album launch party taking place at Muswell Hilbilly Brewers HQ on Friday 2nd November.
‘Darkness Here’ is the latest single to be shared from the band’s debut album ‘South Of OK’. Recorded at Steve Albini’s famous Electric Audio studio in Chicago by producer Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles, Neurosis) ‘South of OK’ see’s the band dial up their amps and call forth a post-punk avalanche of noise whilst simultaneously building upon the melodic depths of their earlier releases ‘EP ONE’ (2014) and ‘Night Terrors’ (2017).
Known for their raucous, shout-along live shows, Strange Planes deal in driving rhythms and gnarled guitar stabs that hold a uniquely British lens to a wave of indie inspired punk bands crossing over the Atlantic. Citing artists like Meat Wave, Rozwell Kid and the Dirty Nil as major influences on their music Strange Planes display bursts of intense, controlled chaos that firmly underline their credentials as a band that should be on everyone’s radar.
‘South Of OK’ is available for pre-order now and can be purchased HERE in a variety of formats including digitally, on CD and a special half black/half red vinyl pressing.
