Warner Music Canada recording artists Courage My Love have released a new single for song ‘Remission’ ahead of the start of their return to the UK to support As It Is in mid-November.
‘Remission’ is the next step in the evolution in sound for the Kitchener-based trio. Fronted by twin sisters Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn with bassist Brandon Lockwood. Accompanying the release of the single is a music video co-directed by Mercedes Arn-Horn and the award-winning director Ben Knetchel.
‘We wrote ‘Remission’ about being haunted by painful memories, specifically memories of an ex lover,” says Mercedes. “In the music video we tell the story of a ghost that is haunting me and following my every move. In the beginning I’m terrified of facing the ghost, but as time goes on I learn to live with it and realise that the ghost is just as much a part of me as these painful memories. We shouldn’t have to live in fear of heartbreak, but rather let it be a part of our story and let it lead us to the next chapter.’
Courage My Love began its life as a guitar-based power punk trio and over the course of the past two years they have introduced more complex sonics to their sound. The addition of synthesizers on their 2016 album, Synesthesia, introduced fans to a poppier sound that still maintained the group’s original power.
‘Bringing a mixture of catchy pop hooks, electronic dance and heavy riffs, there was something for everyone in the crowd. The three-piece are an example of what 2000trees is all about; bringing in diverse alternative music and introducing it to new fans. Throughout their whole set the band looked like they were just having the best time and the longer their set went on, it seemed as though they made new fans of every single person inside the tent.’
Courage My Love have built a loyal following who anxiously await every new release, video and tour announcement. Their videos have garnered over 7.5 million views, they were featured on the cover of Canadian Musician and received a JUNO Award nomination as Breakthrough Group of The Year. Alternative Press have named them among the 100 bands You need to Know and earlier this year the UK’s PopBuzz included CML in 15 Artists You’re Going To Love in 2018.
The band will also be returning to the UK this winter supporting As It Is on their headline tour.
