Puppy entertained a packed Southampton’s Joiners as Grove Street Families and Arid Wave joined them on the night.
With the band recently announcing their long-awaited debut album ‘The Goat’, due to come out in 25th January 2019, you could just sense fans were looking forward to this one.
The brilliantly came on to some authentic fake flames and to the opening theme tune of Terminator which really added to the show. They played the likes of ‘Entombed’ and ‘The Great Beyond’ which was a perfect way to get fans dancing and singing along to their set. These were perfectly followed by ‘Arabella’ as well as an encore with ‘Demons’. Despite the set being only nine songs long, really enjoyed every minute of it! You can check out an interview with Puppy’s Jock Norton below!
So how was your recent UK headline tour?
It was great. We’ve never done a proper headline run before so we didn’t really know what to expect but people showed up which is always a plus.
Have you made good friends with Grove Street Families and will you ever consider writing music with them?
Haha, i’m not sure a collab is on the cards quite yet, but yes, they were lovely guys and we’d love to play together more in the future.
How has the release of Black Hole gone down with fans so far?
Seems to have gone well- people knew it when we played it and it always got a good cheer so that’s positive I guess. Again, we didn’t really know what to expect but the reaction seems to be pretty positive and is hopefully getting people excited about the album.
So you’ll be releasing your debut album The Goat early next year, how pumped are you for this?
Very pumped. We’ve been sitting on it for a while now and it took a long time to finish for various reasons, so we really just want to get it out there now. None of us have ever released a proper album in any of the bands we’ve been in before so it’s a pretty big moment for us all.
Can we expect any new music soon before the release date?
Yeah for sure, there should be at least 2 more singles before then I reckon. Keep watching the skis.
What do you all get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
Billy plays for his football team Oldsmiths, and me and Will have both been enjoying the new Spider Man game on PS4. I’m thinking of taking up crime fighting if this music stuff doesn’t work out
What was the first ever show you went to as a kid?
My first ever gig was P.O.D supported by Il Nino and Skindred at the Astoria in London (R.I.P). I was very into P.O.D at the time and it was a huge moment for me. I didn’t realise there were Christian which is now a bit weird but I appreciated the positive vibes.
