Wolf Girl release ‘Maths In The Real World’ single & Music video

WOLF GIRL recently announced the release of their second album ‘Every Now & Then’, which will be released 19th October via Everything Sucks Music. Now the South London indie-pop quartet have revealed a second taster from the record in the form of ‘Maths In The Real World’. Healey from the band says ‘I am the worst at maths. I was once kind of good at it and now the place it took up in my brain has been replaced with other less useful things. At the time I wrote this, I was re-teaching myself how to draw after a few years of stopping. It was really frustrating that my body had completely forgotten how to do something that used to be such a big part of my life and identity. ‘Maths in the Real World’ is this idea that if you don’t keep putting effort into something you care about (i.e art, friendships or relationships), it could potentially fade.’

Wolf Girl also recently announced a special album launch show at much-loved and important venue DIY Space For London on Friday 26th October. And they play Loud Women Fest at The Dome this coming weekend.

‘Every Now & Then’ consists of nine hook-laden tunes about queer feelings, coming out and dealing with social burnout and marks a real period of growth for Wolf Girl. With Healey helming the majority of the songwriting, each track acted as a strange kind of therapy and catharsis, exploring sexuality, gender identity and anxiety. The album was recorded with Mark Jasper of Sound Savers and the band really focused on capturing the energy shown in their live shows.

In the two years since the release of their much-loved first album ‘We Tried’, Wolf Girl have shared bills with the likes of The Spook School, Girl Ray, and Worriers. They’ve also branched out into other music projects, from The Whooperups (Healey’s collaboration with AC from the Spook School) to Suggested Friends (where Christabel also takes up the drums).

The crunching, distorted guitars and catchy melodies that fans will remember from the band’s first album can still be found on ‘Every Now & Then’. But this new album is a bigger, braver and, at times, completely heart-breaking collection of songs and experiences – political, poignant, yet perfectly pop.
