EP Review: The Faim – Summer Is A Curse

The Coolibah Chorus

G’day possums (that’s Australian for welcome) and let’s crack open this crateful of fluffy koalas that has landed on our doorstep. Don’t cha just wanna squeeze the life out of them? Pleasantries over with, we have here Josh of the legendary hair, and his troop working with the legendary Mr Feldman, and now that we are all legendary we can create something erm… legendary.

We have a starter for ten with “Summer Is A Curse” that has a great rhythm- the one two, one two, you just sway from side to side and let the music lead you onto the dancefloor and into the beautiful ballad “A Million Stars” which is the “lay down beside me and let’s watch the stars” song, quite magical actually.
“Make Believe” is ultra-smooth, ultra-cool, there is a harnessing of some intangible power that lights your way and leads you home.

It is colourful and radiant like the Great Barrier Reef and mightily toothsome like the Great White Shark, by all accounts an exceptional effort which can only lead to bigger and better things.
We continue with “I Can Feel You” and the lovely touch “They were playing INXS”, brings it all back for those who remember the glory days.

We have a change in tempo and in rhythm with “My Heart Needs To Breathe” creating interest and ending with the robotic vocal tone.

“When It Comes” rounds things off rather nicely as we contemplate the bright future that lies ahead for those who are committed, industrious, and can handle the trust that is placed in them to produce quality tunes.
It is always difficult for artists to release work to a baying public, it takes guts, it takes confidence, which The Faim exude and these qualities are apparent in their music.
Make way for this groove machine from Down Under, and let us watch these Men At Work, (clever eh?).
May a million stars shine down on them and guide them. God bless The Faim and all who sail with them.
One question lads, will you come a Waltzing Matilda with me?
