Winchestival took place last month at Winchester’s North Walls Park as thousands of festival-goers took to the family-friendly festival. It was a wet and windy day to start with which was a shame but that didn’t stop people having a good time.
Tom Millichamp got the music kicking off at the main stage and the singer provided a solid set while Frankie Knight played the second stage a half hour before so they did not clash which is what happened all day long and is a great idea. There was plenty to do for all of the family as fans could have glitter applied to their faces as well as face paint for the kids.
Hooli really got the crowd going on the second stage later that afternoon and could have easily played on the main stage. We also managed to check out the disco tent which was great and was a real asset to the festival and offered a variety of music.
Richard Morris followed on the main stage before the brilliant Orchards performed. They played tracks from their latest EP which is now out and titled Losers/Lovers. Lead singer Lucy Evers certainly showed some girl power as her vocals were just as good as Lilly Allen who we at Common People little over a month before.
The Collision played to a packed out crowd on the second stage as was the superb Wildwood Kin who definitely earned their spot on the main stage. Costellos and Only The Poets were awesome on the second stage before the brilliant Arcade Hearts who completely blew the crowd away. It was certainly a great night for female singers as Laurel, The Big Moon and Fickle Friends all performed amazingly and were all arguably headline acts.
Paul McCaffrey and Seann Walsh were the highlights for me on the comedy stage as they were both hilarious as they performed to a packed out tent with fans of theirs sitting down and interacting with the MC and comedians themselves. Overall it was a great day out and I urge anyone who is reading this to give it a go next year!
