Gold Key Release Video For Mechanical World

Watford’s Gold Key reveal a new video for current single Mechanical World. Focusing on technology’s ability to isolate, guitarist and vocalist Laurent Barnard explains ‘We depend on technology to fulfil our idea of perfection. Playing god is destined to lead to failure and we wanted to demonstrate that in our video.’

Showcasing a new dimension to the Watford quartet’s kaleidoscopic sound, Mechanical World is the first fresh cut from Gold Key since last year’s debut album Hello, Phantom. The track premiered on BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, and is featured in Consequence Of Sound’s Top 10 Songs for July. Abrasive, grungey riffs, combined with hammering, stadium-worthy drums and Steve Sears ability to effortlessly switch from an emotive and haunting vocal, to a gritty and explosive chorus. He explains ‘It’s a song about feeling suffocated by the world, not being able to shut off from the technology we simultaneously rely on. It’s easy to moan about the evils of social media whilst being totally addicted to it. Nearly all of us have created our own artificial world – an alternate reality where we constantly look successful and happy through the photos we have chosen to share with the world.’
