Live Review: The Lazys and The Lockhearts at The Black Heart, Camden

The Lockhearts squeeze on to the small stage and deliver a clutch of booming soulful RNR. The band are loud, tuneful and shake the senses with their truly classic template of Seventies Rock. The set consists of songs from the bands superb ‘American Doom Fuzz’ debut album. ‘Leatherface’, ‘Ride On’ and the radio-friendly, toe-tapping ‘The Ocean’ are well received by the sparse but appreciative gathering. They close with ‘Xanax’ a feel-good duvet covering track that ticks all the catchy Rock boxes. The bass did need to be turned down a notch as at times it’s akin to being in heavy turbulence but the overall opinion is that this a group to keep an eye and ear out for. The Lazys hit the stage like a testosterone tornado all sex faces, screeching guitars and satan crazy eyes. This is a double vodka and Redbull AC/DC for those in need of a sugar Rock rush. The band are playing their first ever London date and their enthusiasm and excitement are evident in the frenetic early bullet from a gun soundtrack. The set Billy Whizz’s by and I would be lying if I could name the tracks apart from ‘Little Miss Crazy’ and ‘Nothing But Trouble’. Two top draw bands that will doubtlessly and deservedly play to bigger crowds next time around.
