After an initial spin for the track on the BBC Radio One Rock Show, Brighton based progressive math-rock band Poly-Math are pleased to reveal the video for their latest single Alchemy following an exclusive premiere via Kerrang! Magazine’s Facebook page this week.
Filmed at The Spire – a creative space for theatre, dance, circus and performance makers, located in the beautiful grade II listed St Mark’s Chapel in East Brighton – the stunningly produced video was directed and shot by Al Pott, with lighting from Alexei Ekkel and production by Reveries Events.
Speaking of the influences behind the single, the band said: ‘Alchemy is an exploration of all the various characteristics of the double album. In many ways it’s a snap shot of the rest of the record. We wanted to include frantic, violent, racing time signatures, but blend them with more traditional folk-inspired sections. It’s the first track on We Are The Devil, and changes the tone of the record, from the grandeur of The House of Wisdom to the darker side of history when the Houses of Wisdom were finally destroyed and the Mongolian rule began to take place.’
The track is the latest to be taken from their new double album House of Wisdom | We Are The Devil which is out now via Lonely Voyage Records and Nice Weather For Airstrikes, with the band appearing at a select handful of festivals later this year.
Their mind-bending music has so far drawn praise in the media from the likes of BBC Radio One, Kerrang! Magazine, The Independent, Guitar & Bass, PROG, Revolver, Total Guitar, Modern Drummer and many more.
Poly-Math will be touring throughout the year and showcasing the new record at festivals across the UK and Europe, with further live dates TBA.
