Boomtown has been granted permission to open its doors a day earlier for a limited number of attendees. The South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) have given the festival the go ahead on their plans to help reduce the volume of traffic arriving to the event on the Thursday, by allowing a limited number of attendees access to the festival site a day earlier, from Wednesday 8th August.
Taking place between Wednesday 8th – Sunday 12th August 2018 at the Matterley Estate, in Hampshire, the festival is offering the limited Wednesday access to those who are choosing to arrive to the festival via sustainable transport methods such as: National Express coach, private hire coach, shuttle bus from train station or those with a minimum of three people travelling per car, as a way to encourage using public transport and minimise the number of cars on the road, as well as further promote the festival’s commitment to reduce its environmental impact.
“After six months of working hard on all possible outcomes of the licensing and planning results this is absolutely amazing news! Being granted permission means that we can now implement measures to help spread arrivals out over two days and continue our work to reduce the disruption caused to the local community and make entry to the festival easier for everyone.” Boomtown Organisers
The option to add the Wednesday ticket is only available for existing ticket holders, however, although standard festival tickets to Boomtown sold out in February, there is still the opportunity for those who want to be a part of the 10th Chapter celebrations via Boomtown’s very own version of a VIP / Hospitality package the ‘theatrical camping experience’ of Boomtown Springs!
The new interactive area is curated by award winning collective, Bearded Kitten and offers the chance for people enter into a whole new realm of summer soirees, mansion and pool parties, fine food, access secret bars across the city and posh showering facilities as well a little perks including phone charging and a dedicated entrance lane. As well as Wednesday arrival being included in the ticket price. More details here.
