Cabbage release new video for ‘Postmodernist Caligula’

Cabbage have shared the video to current single Postmodernist Caligula, available now on Infectious Music. Directed by Matt Jones, the video stars Gaz Stanley and Ray Boddington from cult Manchester buskers The Piccadilly Rats, who appeared in Cabbage’s video for previous single ‘Kevin’.

Say Cabbage: ‘We Cabbage here and now, deliver an accompanied visual piece to our bastardised ode to villains, Postmodernist Caligula. Many thanks to Matt Jones and Adam Riozzi who took our amateur video making pilgrims to a position that is wholly considered, professional. Finally there ain’t no show without the STARS and in our show we are proud to present the folk who came down to help us out and the finest double act Mancunia has seen, Gaz Stanley and Ray Boddington from The Piccadilly Rats. FISTS!’

‘Postmodernist Caligula’ is taken from the Manchester band’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Nihilistic Glamour Shots’, which charted at #1 in the Cassette Chart, #2 on the Independent Chart and #4 on the Vinyl Chart, as well as #21 in the Official Album Chart. The album contains the previous BBC 6Music play-listed singles Arms Of Pleonexia, Celebration Of A Disease and Gibraltar Ape.

Having recently completed an extensive UK tour, including a sold-out show at London’s 100 Club, this Saturday May 19th Cabbage will curate ‘Glamour At Thee Ritz’ at Manchester’s O2 Ritz. Starting at 5pm and headlined by Cabbage, the event across 2 rooms at The Ritz will feature PINS, The Blinders, Rhythm Method, Witch Fever, Lady Bird, and Sports Team and many more.

Produced by James Skelly and Rich Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, She Drew The Gun) at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool, ‘Nihilistic Glamour Shots’ is an album that confirms Cabbage as one of the most nuanced bands in years. Equally drawn to socialist politics and mucking about, they’re devotees of both big choruses and anarchic totems like GG Allin, Genesis P Orridge and Butthole Surfers.
