EP Review: Victory Kid – Illenials Vol.1

SoCal Commercial Punks Victory Kid release their impressive four track E.P the sun-drenched boardwalk bouncer Illenials Vol.1. First cut ‘My World’ is a hard polished Ska-Punk ditty that dodges in and out of the not so alternative, trying to be alternative shopping mall Punk Pop genre. ‘Coming Together’ has a contagious laconic Indie riff before the track bursts open with a Rock solo and a Warped Tour chorus. US Politics is given the once over with the seething ‘Tuck Frump’ and as their President continues to drag a once great nation into the abyss on a missile of lies, fear-mongering racism, fake tits, hair, news and gun-wielding right-wing pond life the song seems quite apt. Final cut ‘Go Get It Kid’ rises into a well layered Punk Pop anthem. Victory Kid has made a flat genre bubble once more.
