EP Review: Rosen – Self-titled EP

Crossover Rap Metal/Rock London five-piece Rosen release a refreshingly intelligent non-crutch holding self-titled E.P. A haunting piano intro gives way to the Limp Bizkit fuelled ‘Stick & Stones’. The lack of gun-toting, misogynistic, faux accent, drive-by glamorisation adds a much-needed edge of real life and all without me, my self-obsessed bitching. ‘High Tech Low Life’ shows some stunning vocal dexterity set against a walking paced “f*ck you I won’t do you tell me” backdrop while ‘Pushing Raw’ tests the laws of how long you should speak for without taking a breath. Song of the E.P is ‘Hallelujah’ which covers all the bases with well thought out production and a chorus which begs to be bellowed from a steam filled sweaty festival tent. The closing duo of ‘Reverie’ and ‘Riot’ (two versions, clean and uncut) catch and hold the attention. A release full of flavour, honesty and top quality tunes.
