EP Review: Wolf Culture – The Devil’s Plans for Idle Hands

The UK Emo scene goes from strength to strength with Bournemouth’s Wolf Culture debut E.P the mood swinging ‘The Devil’s Plans For Idle Hands’. Opening track ‘Wreck’ oozes youthful coming of age angst and although some of the lyrics are a little faux the song has more than enough to keep its head above well above the water. A relentless ‘Killing The Horse’ shows some real promise, the track ticks all the Emo/Rock boxes while remaining individual to the band as they hone their own sound and direction. Next up is the single (link to the video below) ‘Continents’. The song is guilty of trying to squeeze every style and pace into the three-plus minutes. Each segment works singularity but collectively they fall into a musical no-mans land. Final cut ‘The Side Effects Of Being Happy’ bounds out of the summer shadows with alkaline sensibilities to round off this, “it’s growing on me” release.
