Known as the ‘Black Sheep’ of the Utah music scene, the Nomads have been shaking things up in a region predominantly dominated by pop music culture since their live debut on Halloween night 2014.
The band quickly made it into the studio and recorded their first EP Black Sheep at Indie/Folk artist Joshua James’ Willamette Mtn. The success of “Black Sheep” led to spins on national indie radio stations, appearances on local news/radio outlets and a number of high profile gigs. Over the next few years, the band continued to hone in on their sound, playing hundreds of local shows, both headlining and opening for national acts, such as OK GO, STRFKR, The Growlers and Highly Suspect, cementing their reputation as one of the hardest working bands in Utah.
In 2017 they hit the road with dates at SXSW, a headlining tour as well as a few dates supporting He is We. They were also the winners of American Musical Supply’s ‘Catch a Break at AMS’ contest, besting thousands of entries from all over the country. This earned them national recognition, a private showcase at D’Angelico’s Guitars in New York City for a room full of industry professionals, as well as numerous sponsorships from companies such as American Muiscal Supply and QSC Audio.
In late 2017, the band signed with Standby Records and will release their next EP Phases on April 27.
