Naked Giants release ‘Everybody Thinks They Know’

Seattle’s indie rock trio Naked Giants address the concept of influencers in their new video for ‘Everybody Thinks They Know’ (But No One Really Knows), a garage pop ear-worm taken from their debut album SLUFF in the UK released on April 13th via New West Records.

‘I guess this is an example of how a little bit of nonsense can turn into something profound with enough repetition and emphasis,’ explains guitarist/vocalist Grant Mullen. ‘Sometimes we pick things apart so much looking for an answer that we lose the simple wholeness which was the answer in the first place. It’s like dissecting a frog – once you get to the middle and everything is laid out on the table, is it really a frog anymore? When we’ve explored and labelled every corner of the universe, does that get us any closer to knowing what the universe really is? What is god and why is it so powerful of an idea? These are all questions to be sure, but the melody we find at the end of our existence will surely be something like “everybody thinks they know but no one really knows’.

The video, directed by Sean Downey, depicts a brainwasher influencing his Disciples, played by the band and friends, as an exercise in the power of nothing – the idea is that a whole movement is started by a nonsense phrase and even the plot itself is repetitive and predictable.

Their debut album, SLUFF features 12 tracks from Naked Giants produced by Steve Fisk (Nirvana, Unwound, Soundgarden, Minus The Bear) in October of 2017. It’s a melting pot of catchy tracks influenced by all of the best genres that great bands have made us all dance to across the decades.

Naked Giants, who are all part of Car Seat Headrest’s newly expanded 7-piece live band, will also support Car Seat Headrest with their own sets on their worldwide tour this May, stopping in the UK at the following shows below.
