Indya is a Glam Rock/ Metal band from Brighton UK. The band was formed in January 2015 by lead singer & songwriter Natalie Indya West. After studying Music at The Brit School & being Influenced by the likes of Joan Jett, Marilyn Manson, Deep Purple & Madonna she has used these influences within her own suggestive music, arranging her songs into a raunchy spectacle creating a Taboo Rock n Roll style of her own. With teasing drums & sleazy guitar riffs, think Joan Jett in Business with Manson! Indya has an alternative industrious sound oozing sex appeal for all to hear. Finished nicely with a Glam Gloss. Many have commented on the clever interlace of Classic Rock with Glam dirty Metal.
Indya supported the likes of Republica, Space and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in 2017. This year they are supporting The Rocket Dolls on their Brighton tour. Indya are touring Sweden from 27 – 29 July. Check out Indya’s latest track The Final Line below!
We managed to catch up with Natalie as she talked about the band’s latest single and more!
How has the initial release been of The Final Line so far?
The release has been awesome!! It’s had some pretty great reviews so far & press releases in the likes of planet mosh , kerrang , top40charts (New York) , metal mayhem, plus tons more!! The record is being loved by lots of people within the rock industry & the reviews are soaring. So many people are supporting the record it’s fantastic!
Can you tell us something about the release no one else knows?
The release of the music video is not out yet! But will be in a few weeks. It stars the Kerrang Radio presenter Johnny doom!!
If you could work with any band in the world on a new song, who would it be and why?
If Indya could work on a new record it definitely would be with Joan Jett!! Well I’m her sound alike!! So it would be rude not to lol.
She was a huge inspiration to me as I formed Indya & I happen to have that same similar squeak in my voice. Lots of people think I sound like her , so would love to accompany her on a new rock record!
How pumped are you for you tour in Sweden?
We have never done a tour in Europe so this is our first one! We are racing to go & extremely excited!! We love travel & it’s going to be fun times ahead flying off to another country rocking out every day & getting paid for it. Wow! That’s living the dream!!
What is it like supporting the likes of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds?
Indya played at Noel gallaghers aftershow party at the O2 Liverpool it was a blast!! We had so much fun …too much! I will say no more …
So what’s the alternative scene like in Brighton at the moment?
Brighton is a really great place to gig. There are some super cool bands going right now & live music is on every night of the week.
Some of the best old venues are there (pipeline, sticky mikes, latest music bar) we are in Brighton in May gigging with the Rocket Dolls
What was the first gig you ever attended?
Don’t laugh , my first ever gig was seeing Peter Andre hehe in crawley
What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
In my spare time I go running a lot , I also love driving , going to pubs for drinks n painting / poetry / songwriting. I go swimming often too.
