The fourteenth and final district line up announcement for the tenth chapter celebrations of the multi-genre, multi-staged, multi-generational Boomtown Fair, has just been released as Kidztown district. This bumper edition of the much loved district will feature a whole host of musicians, performers, activities and workshops from all over the world, that are a sure fire way of keeping entire family entertained for days on end!
Known for approaching the way of festivalling slightly differently, Boomtown sprinkles some of it’s eccentric magic into the fields of Kidztown and does not disappoint with the sheer scale and abundance of entertainment on offer bringing all generations together in a melting pot of mischievous mayhem! The Sandcastle Stage will be hosting acts such as Disney Rascal performing ska/reggae covers of favourite Disney tunes; Tantz, the Leeds based klezmer/Balkan beats/gypsy jazz bohemians who’ve taken the UK world/roots music scene by storm, and at only 3 years old garage selector, DJ Archie, will definitely be the youngest superstar to grace a Boomtown stage!
Also, set to get the crowds reaching for the lasers and dancing the day away are three of the country’s finest family party purveyors, Junior Jungle, FUNDMC and Big Fish Little Fish with a range of grown up musical styles covering everything from ragga-jungle to hip-hop to club classics. It’s time to pass those crowd pleasing, floor filling moves on to the next generation…
Kidztown offers a space for families to lose themselves in the interactive play adventures that can be found in the perfectly proportioned street venues such as; Post Office for some inky adventures, Rat-a-tat-tat Tattoo for face painting fun and The Piggy Bank to earn Kidztown cash. New for Chapter 10 is the introduction of Kidztown’s very own Radio Station where children can take part in workshops, learn how to produce shows, and develop budding broadcast skills.
Peppered across Kidztown are many more workshops and activities; The Rusty Workshop offers mechanical skills, woodwork, metalwork & craft in a fully interactive workshop set; the Alice in Wonderland themed Science Tent hosted by the SAW Trust fuses science, art and creative writing; The Krafty Kids tent hosts T-shirt printing and Super Pirates workshops. The Panic Family Circus Big Top will host storytelling, bubble making and interactive puppet shows, plus trapeze and hula hoop workshops. Watch out for breakdancing gorillas, take part in the glitter shower, bring a bucket and spade to the sandpit, fly high on the victorian swing boats and practice karaoke at the Kids Caravan…
The budding theatre enthusiasts are not left behind with a huge variety of interactive mime, physical theatre, walkabout characters from the likes of; Owen Gaynor Circus, Gunpowder Gerty, and The Rhubarb Theatre with their series of children’s shows from anarchic circus spectaculars, to expressive dance via a couple of firing cannons!
The beloved Forest School adventures are back in the Wild Woods with hands on introduction into tool making, den building, tree houses, zip lines, as well as developing forest skills, and being encouraged to climb, run, jump and play amongst the scramble nets and trees. The forest schools will be hosted by a different organisation daily; Art Play Environment, South Downs National Park Trust and Woodland Tribe.
