EP Review: Amyl and the Sniffers – Big Attraction & Giddy Up

Aussie Pub Rockers Amyl And The Sniffers first two E.P’s have been brought together by the Damaged Goods Record label for a debut full length (re-)release.The Aussie Pub Punks kick off with the urgent anti-hero trailer park Heartbreaker ‘I’m Not Loser’. Next up is the teeth sharp ‘Blowjobs’ which is followed by the spat out bar room brawling ‘Mole (Sniff, Sniff)’. The shouty ‘Balaclava Love Boogie’ fuzzes along Indie Punk highway and the song highlight’s the violent nasal female vocals of Amy Louise Taylor. A slurry love lost ‘Westgate’ is followed by the wonderfully titled ‘70’s Street Munchies’ which is a skid row Sesame Street anthem. ‘Caltex Cowgirl’ is a close to a ballad that Amyl gets,  while ‘Mandalay’ has a Ramones feel and some spoken word vocals. The final cut is the pissed brat ‘Stole My Pushbike’ and that’s that. A loud proud ball tampering, mullet-sporting, wifebeater wearing release of council estate, kerb-crawling, scratch card praying, kangeroo kebab Punk Rock and it’s damn fine fayre.
