Forever Cult Release Video For ‘Usurper’

Leeds quartet Forever Cult unveil a video for latest single Usurper. Abrasive, fuzzy and oscillating, the track is a sonic depiction of a night out escalating. Usurper is also the first track featuring the band’s newly recruited second guitarist Wilko.

‘We’ve gathered here today to share the video for our new single ‘Usurper’ with you. Now the video itself was something of a fluke. In fact, go watch it first, then come back read this as there’s too many spoilers here for you to enjoy it. Go on, off you pop. Right, all done? Watched it all? That bit with the dragon & that at the end too yeah? Sound. Then allow me to continue… The video, as I say, was a total fluke. Scott who runs our label (Clue Records) had a fully made video for another band’s song but it didn’t match. So he cleverly chopped it all up & made it work for Usurper. Somehow the planets aligned & we have this wondrous package to show to you today. You wouldn’t even know it was made for a different tune would you? So maybe forget this bit & just enjoy yeah? Ta. This is the start of a busy year. 3 new singles are coming then we might start talking about a longer piece of music that begins with an a but til then, enjoy & come see us live over the summer. Love you loads, whoever, however & wherever you are. FC xoxoxox’

Produced By Matt Peel (Eagulls, Bad Breeding) at Leeds studio The Nave, Usurper follows 2017’s EP Homewrecker on Clue Records which streamed with DIY Magazine pre-release. ‘We’ve been quiet for a little while but it’s taken time to develop our sound again. New songs are coming thick and fast in a totally different way to usual. We’re writing all together in a practise room jamming out ideas more than before. It’s really exciting all over again and has really given us a new lease of life’
– Alex (Bass)
