Pushing Daisies Announce New EP & UK Tour Dates

Bristol-based emo-rock quartet, Pushing Daisies will release their new EP, Take Me Back To The Light on 11th May 2018. The new 7-track release follows on from 2016’s ‘Stay Sad’ EP, which was released through Homebird Records. Now, going it alone, the four gentlemen have crafted a record where the musical maturity far surpasses their age and the musicianship shines through – Pushing Daisies are truly Ones To Watch in 2018.

Speaking on the new record, vocalist Bert Martinez-Cowles said ‘Take Me Back To The Light has been in the works for a long time. Over the past 2 years, we’ve all been through a lot of tough times, had our issues and grievances, members of our families have passed and we’ve had our own struggles with mental health. Being able to sculpt all of these into songs has been our release from negativity within ourselves.

‘We’ve never publicly spoken about these issues but being able to see such a positive response to ‘Picture Frame’ shows that what we are singing about is real and relatable and everyone has their own battles to overcome.’

In support of the new record, Pushing Daisies will take to the road through the Spring and Summer:

08 APR – Birmingham, Asylum 2
09 APR – London, The Unicorn

Throughout the 7 new tracks of Take Me Back To The Light, the band share their stories on coping with family deaths, understanding and dealing with mental health, building self-positivity and starting fresh. A positive outlook.’There is always a light at the end of any struggle’ expresses Martinez-Cowles.

Take Me Back To The Light was recorded at Lower Lane Studios. Produced by Sam Bloor.

Pushing Daisies formed in 2014 out of the cultural hotbed of Bristol city. Having seen out their initial teething problems and member changes the new material follows on from 2016’s Stay Sad EP, which was released through Homebird Records.

Off the back of Stay Sad the band took to the road throughout the UK, touring extensively with Dearist, Branch To Root, Beaumont, Better Than Never and Splitsville – Building a responsive underground fanbase all over the isle. Coupling this with support slots with As It Is, Pity Sex, The Hotelier and Foxing, as well as appearances at Hit The Deck and Dot To Dot Festivals, the band have solidified themselves as ones to watch for 2018.

‘Shows, this past year have been awesome.’ continues Martinez-Cowles. ‘Fans are coming out and wearing our merch and singing our songs back to us. It’s more than we ever expected.’

Having taken their time whilst writing, the band separated themselves from their new material, giving themselves chance to reflect on it in a way they hadn’t had before. The outcome is strong, mature musicianship, that presents what Pushing Daisies is all about in the clearest way possible.
