Singer-songwriter Luke Rainsford’s latest release ‘I Just Don’t Be Deserve To Be Loved’ clouds over the blue spring skies with a haunting realism that rises from the depths of blackened intestines. This superlative release opens with the post passing personal regret of the brutalistic ‘Looking For Your Ghost’. The feeling and open-hearted honesty whisk you away to a place that hopefully you haven’t visited yet, but this is painful albeit necessary E.P for those yet to lose a parent, just be prepared before you listen. The short but unsweet ‘I Can’t Keep My Promises’ carries on the grief-stricken pain via a funeral and morphs into ‘An Open Letter’. The gaping emotional wounds aren’t bandaged by song but left open for everyone to see, hear and squirm away from with eyes firmly shut. The upbeat ‘Sweet Briar’ is punctuated by tales of lost loves, relatives, plus Liverpool and Leamington Spa. It’s a tune that almost hides the anxiety and tears held within but the ending exposes it for what it is. ‘What I Can’t Believe’ returns to the curtain closed clarion calls of those struggling to cope before ‘What I Hide Beneath’ finally pushes the wheezing car over the happy cliff of life. We are fed a world of bubblegum Punk-Pop, faux feelings, X-Factor tears, cruise ship singers and Kar-fucking-dashian media whore hounds. Luckily for us, Luke Rainsford has razored his way through the turgid and talentless to deliver this beautifully real record. A triumphantly dark shot in the arm.
