York five-piece Feed Them To The Forest release their debut five-track E.P ‘Can’t Forget’. The Alt-Rockers open with the stop-start, jagged edge with a smooth finish of ‘Lie With The Dogs’. Next up is the multi-paced ‘Golden Age Thinking’ which has a blindsiding jab quality. The bands generic Emo/Punk style and sound is punched out in all manner of musical directions, catching the chin of multiple genres without landing that blood on canvas hook. This is evident on ‘Apology Is Policy’ which explodes like Blink 182 wrestling with Billy Talent while Jimmy Eats watches on, popcorn in hand. The superb ‘Speculative Grief’ blows away any clouds of a doubt with its resonating frustration fuelled vocals and high paced flow. Final cut ‘We Used To Make Mix-Tapes’ reverts to the Radio kissed contemporary Emo-Punk sugar dipped sound. There’s nothing wrong with this E.P, it’s hugely enjoyable and ticks all the relevant boxes, just wished they’d thought outside said box a tad more. Embrace the edges, push the boundaries and go off-piste a little.
