Swedish Punks ‘No Fun At All’ are hurtling towards their thirtieth(!) anniversary and the band’s first release in Nine years, ‘Grit’ is an outstanding example of thoroughbred European Punk. The first cut ‘Spirit’ blows the doors off with it’s clean almost surgical Bad Religion sound which dispels any doubt in the bands latest line up.
Next up is the bass Rock ‘N’ Roll intro of the ear-pounding ‘No Fun Intended’ which burns the back of the throat like a Motorhead/Tiger Army cocktail. Both ‘Runner’s High and ‘The Humdrum Way’’ have a more melodic edge armed with chopping guitars, the duo is uncluttered, straightforward and straight shooting Nineties Punk. A flowing ‘Forth’ is followed by the ultra-catchy ‘Fortunate Smile’ before the lacerating Offspring/Trio riff of ‘Suitable Victim’ causes involuntary leg movement. ‘Sucker’, ‘Simple’ along with the circle pit anthem ‘A Wonderful Affair’ push ‘N’ pull the intestines of the alternative gut punched Punk genre’s well-worn stomach. The rallying pair of ‘Lonely Stranger’ and ‘You’re In Control’ complete this superlative release. True grit indeed.
