Eighteen months since the Last Great Dreamers released the excellent ‘Transmissions From Oblivion’ album the band have returned with another corker ‘13th Floor Renegades’. Up first is the rat-a-tat attack of ‘New Situation’ that blows away any cobwebs of doubt. Bolan leisurely kisses Britpop’s pursed lips on title track ‘13th Floor Renegades’ while ‘Speed Of Light’ fully immerses itself in the pool of catchy classic sounding Dandy Rock. ‘No Sunshine’ explodes with a mature Pop-Punk flow as all and any relevant genres are all tossed into the Dreamers ever bubbling pot.’I Think I Like It’ crosses Blink 182 and Dodgy while ‘For Your Information’ has a dash of sixties swagger and kink.
‘Primitive Man’ is drizzled with a sweet slade riff and it oozes foot stomping, skin slapping Glam Rock. A slower paced ‘Miles away’ is followed by the bitter glitter popgun punch of ‘Broken Things’. The album is closed with more blurring of boundaries as ‘Going Home’ hopscotch’s towards the finish line. The Last Great Dreamers squeeze every musical hotspot into ‘13th Floor Renegades’ it’s a satin scarf swaying in the Glam breeze. This is a refreshingly fizzy album of well crafted modernistic nostalgia quenching corona Pop.
