King Shelter share ‘Blue Pigz’

Los Angeles trio, King Shelter, returned today with their single Blue Pigz via a premiere with The 405. Blue Pigz is the third track released from their debut album $hame due out March 30th on Broken Entertainment. The band is currently wrapping up their run of West Coast dates which will come to a close on February 28th with a headlining show at The Echo in LA with support from Mt. Eddy and Heyrocco.

Blue Pigz combines the pop sensibilities and grungy tones of both of the previous singles – Pick Your Poison and Teeth & Claws – released from $hame. Centered around a razor-sharp riff that builds to a crescendo behind lead singer, Taylor Hecock’s ultra-catchy melodies. Speaking of the track, Hecock says, ‘Blue Pigz is a song that values perspective. We are not taking any stance on any particular issue. This song simply states issues and identifies pride. And regardless of all this chaos, I want to die next to the ones I love, the ones who are important to me”. He continues “In relation to the album, this song is the most sporadic. I’m disappointed in mankind’s priorities. Why do we focus on these things? There are such great feats to be obtained. Blue Pigz is my turn to be someone else for 2 verses, and to let every individual know that I am interested not only in spending life with them, but death as well – if they’re willing to be my friend.’

Back in 2014, Taylor Hecocks formed King Shelter in La Mirada, CA while studying music at university with lead guitarist, David Noble, and bassist, John Harzan. King Shelter kicked off the project with a self-titled EP, which Hecock produced and engineered himself. The band would refine their sound through local shows around Orange County – mostly for friends and local music fans – building towards what would eventually become the Failure EP. The Failure EP would prove to be their first real stamp on the Orange County, CA music scene, taking King Shelter from playing backyards to headlining the Constellation Room two months later. The band would eventually shift focus to taking over the LA market – selling out The Echo in February of 2017. The band has since released a string of singles produced by Adam Castilla from the Colourist in anticipation of their highly-anticipated upcoming debut full-length. King Shelter is set to release $hame this spring through Broken Entertainment – undoubtedly leaving their mark on the Southern California music scene for years to come.
