Progressive metal act, Greyhaven, returned today with Blemish – the second single from their upcoming Graphic Nature / Equal Vision Records full-length Empty Black. Blemish, which premiered today with Metal Injection, comes a week ahead of the band’s North American tour with Norma Jean, Gideon and Toothgrinder that commences February 27th at Murray Hill in Jacksonville, Florida. You can stream the track now on YouTube and Empty Black is available now for preorder.
Blemish packs a hell of a punch with its abrasive-yet-ethereal composition and wall of distortion and canon-like drums. Discordant guitar leads and lead singer, Brent Mill’s, raw emotive screams are infectious and emotive – sure to bring the pit to a frenzy as they embark on what will be their biggest tour to date. Blemish follows the release of Echo and Dust – Pt. 1 a few weeks ago which has seen coverage everywhere from Alt Press to Revolver Magazine and Idobi Radio. The band seems poised to join the ranks of progressive metal torchbearers as the genre continues to experience a renaissance.
Empty Black is best encapsulated by one phrase – ‘make the accident look like it was on purpose’. This isn’t due to a lack of intent, but more so to a commitment to experimentation. As a product of the vibrant yet insular music scene in Louisville, Kentucky, Greyhaven has never been afraid to pursue the avant-garde. On Empty Black they’ve created an album that is pristinely violent while challenging the norms associated with heavy rock music. The Will Putney (Every Time I Die, Body Count, Knocked Loose, Amity Affliction) produced record will be released March 16th on Graphic Nature / Equal Vision Records.
