On March 9th Essex’s SUN ARCANA will drop their anthemic debut E.P ‘As I Take A Breath…’. ‘Fracture’ kicks this release into early life with it’s Billy Talent riff, varying tempos and some intricate touches bind it all seamlessly together. Next up is the slow-burning ‘Oxygen’ which bubbles with subconscious White Lies sensibilities before the meandering ballad ‘Everybody’ swims helplessly against the E.P’s musical current. ‘When I Turn Cold’ dips its toe into the middle of the road chart-friendly waters while ‘Wonderful’ goes for the heavier guitars, drums and vocals. It works.
Final cut ‘Oblique’ follows the same slowly soaring path as ‘Wonderful’. If your heading to Download this summer then Sun Arcana will definitely be worth checking out, if you can find a space in your stage hopping itinerary.
