Album Review: Miesha And The Spanks – Girls, Girls, Girls

Canadian Two piece Miesha And The Spanks deliver their brand new album ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ and it’s nowt to do with Motley Crue. Opener ‘First Blood’ has a Dums Dums, Hole, fuzzy Rock texture that is unpretentiously catchy in a shouty to cool for school Indie way kinda way. ‘Motorin’ sticks to the duo Rock ‘N’ Roll tarmac while wheel spinning across the abandoned highway of lost genre’s. The Grunge laced ‘Come Undone’ bristles with slurry attitude and is punctuated with bursts of seventies glam fizz. Lead single ‘Lost Boy’ announces itself as the missing link between ‘That’s Not My Name’ and Royal Blood and for all the similarity it’s still a sweet modern day cherry bomb.

The deep Bass rumble of ‘Girls’ simmers below the surface while ‘Atmosphere’ will stick in your ears, one way or another. ‘Be Alright’ riffs off like Johnny Thunders and stands out as Rock ‘N’ Roll in its simplest most captivating form. Both ‘Stranger’ and ‘Witch Hunt’ keep the album flowing before a slightly poppy ‘Summer Love’ opens the blinds at the basement blues hotel. Miesha And The Spanks are a rare musical treat for those in need of some anti-hipster half and half R’N’R. Check out ‘Lost Boy’ below!
