It’s finally time for the first instalment of In Flames’ own two day festival Borgholm Brinner (Borgholm is Burning) coming this July 27th-28th. In addition to the Swedish metal giants In Flames, we can now proudly announce three bands for one of the highlights of this summer – Anthrax (US), Danko Jones (CAN) and Graveyard (SWE)!
Tickets to the festival will be released on February 26th at 8.00am GMT via LiveNation.se and BorgholmBrinner.se
Both two day passes and one day passes will be available.
Pre-sale starts February 23rd 8.00am GMT for customers of Tele2 and Samsung.
ANTHRAX
The New York icons barely need an introduction. Anthrax are one of the biggest names in the metal world and a part of the ‘Big Four’ (with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer). The band’s career stretches over four decades, 11 studio albums and includes countless successful tours around the globe. On top of being one of the greatest metal acts of all time, Anthrax are one of the leading bands in thrash metal today. We can’t wait for Anthrax to turn the Borgholm Castle into a ‘Madhouse’!
DANKO JONES
The Canadian rock trio, Danko Jones have been described as one of the best live bands in the world. If you’ve seen the band live, you’ll understand. It’s raw, live music with unrivalled energy that Swedish-loving Danko Jones like to bring to the Nordics. During their last trip in Scandinavia, they played to sold out crowds and enthusiastic critics in Sweden, Norway and Finland – leaving everyone craving more. With their newest album ‘Wild Cat’ released last September, together with other Danko classics such as ‘First Date’ and ‘Lovercall’, we welcome Danko Jones to Borgholm!
GRAVEYARD
If In Flames are the metal giants of Sweden, then Graveyard are the hard rock heroes. Having won multiple Swedish Grammys and P3 Guld awards, as well as being praised by critics as one of the most interesting rock bands from Sweden, it goes without saying that we are incredibly excited for what Graveyard will bring to Borgholm Brinner. Right now the Gothenburg band are working on their fifth studio album. There’s a good chance that we will get to hear all new Graveyard material in the most beautiful setting this July at Borgholm on Öland!
More acts to be announced in due course, stay tuned…
In Flames singer Anders Fridén states:
‘I think every band dreams of being able to do this one day – at least for us it’s always been in the back of our minds and right now feels like the best time to do it. Whether it’s putting on your own festival, it’s an indescribable feeling to have created a community from your music, and even crazier to have the ability bring that community together in a physical place – playing and enjoying music together, drinking together etc. And in a castle of all places. That’s another thing. It wouldn’t be an In Flames festival if it were just happening on a plot of dirt. It’s got to be special so our fans can have the ultimate experience, so we can pay them back for being so great to us for 20 years with an awesome weekend they’ll never forget. We’ve also hand-picked the best bands for everyone to enjoy and although we can’t say who’s playing yet, we can promise there will be no disappointments.’
In Flames recently released a digital EP ‘Down, Wicked & No Good’ featuring cover versions of Depeche Mode’s ‘It’s No Good’, Alice In Chains’ ‘Down In A Hole’, Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’, and a live version of Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Hurt’. Due to high demand from the Jesterheads, the songs will now be released as a 10” mini LP on March 16th, 2018 – available as both Light Blue and Light Blue/Black Splatter Vinyl 10”.
Since forming in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1990, In Flames have had seven albums debut in the top ten in Sweden, including two #1s. They have toured the globe countless times, performing alongside some of today’s biggest rock and metal acts, including Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and Iron Maiden, and have held several main stage and headline spots at various music festivals around the world, including Ozzfest, Download Festival, Graspop, Taste of Chaos, Hellfest, Rock Am Ring / Im Park and many more.
The band’s 2016 album, ‘Battles’ – recorded by multi Grammy-nominated producer, Howard Benson – debuted in multiple Top 10’s around the world.
