Album Review: Forbidden Seasons – Promise

Turin Metalcore outfit FORBIDDEN SEASONS unleash their brutally atmospheric debut album, ’Promise’. The rich cocktail of Metal commotion is donkey kicked into the psyche with the rousing opener ’Atlantis’ which leaves the brain scrambled and confused. Lead single ’Thank You For The Venom’ has some stunning throat-ripping vocals which may leave lead singer Mark requiring some form of larynx surgery.

The delicate touches of harmony and electronic blend beautifully with some horror/roaring deep, devil rousing shouting style. ’Keys And Locks’ and ’Gravity’ both speed between the Thrash/Speed/Melodic Metal gears with pomp, power and precision. ‘Wormhole’ starts promisingly but ultimately fails to push the envelope. Next up is (my) track of the album, the distinctively fresh, aurally astounding  ‘The Human’. ’Sorrow Won’t End’, ’The Rejected’ and ’I’ve Seen The End In Your Eyes’ bulldoze into familiar Core fields and while the songs are enjoyable enough they do slightly morph into each other.  Album closer ’Promise’ attacks the fearful blinkered masses who follow their various Gods into misplaced wars, destruction and genocide all in the name of improbable truth. Forbidden Seasons have dispatched a gutsy, solid and melodic Metal infused debut.
