EP Review: At The Drive In – Diamante

At The Drive In release the ‘Diamante E.P’ exclusively for Record Store Day’s November 24th’s Black Friday sale/event. The three tracks kick, spit and attack with the band’s distinctive reverberation. Opener ‘Amid Ethics’ snarls with snatched lyrical domination while the tortured sounding guitar and stretched snare complete the opening aural offensive. Middle cut  ‘Despondent High Noon’ has pregnant pauses aplenty before rising into an untamed melodic muddle before the drums steer it loudly home. The finale of ‘Point of Demarkation’ is a haunting slice of walking pace emotive commotion that culminates in some gut grazing note holding. A trio of songs highlighting At The Drive In’s beautifully individual angst.
