BUSTER SHUFFLE is a band you may have seen on numerous occasions, mainly due to they’re we’ll play anywhere with anyone attitude, which means you could see them going down a storm at The Rebellion Punk Festival or supporting bands such as Madness and Flogging Molly. ‘I’ll Take What I Want’ kicks off with the anthem ‘I Don’t Trust A Word You Say’ with its piano thumping, 2-Tone fuelled spine it’s guaranteed to get you up and skanking. ‘We Fall To Pieces’, ‘Pretty Boy’ along with the simplistic Eighties backbone of ’See You Next Week’ keep the knees bending, arms moving and feet stomping. The Suggs-esque ‘I’ll Be In Peckham’ fizzes with lager top sensibilities while being ploddingly poignant. Title track ‘I’ll Take What I Want’ combines Ska with music hall Rock ’N’ Roll and chucking out time lyrics. BS go full Ian Dury’s ‘Sweet Gene Vincent’ on the stop-start ’Your Mummy Is So Hot For Me’ and it’s about time someone did. The band’s influences are not so much hidden but celebrated with a loving musical bear hug. ‘The Tables Have Now Turned’, ‘Take Them All’ and the self-scan sing-a-long ‘Banana Thief’ finish an album of stimulating styles. Pie ’n’ mash, Doherty, Dury, Minder, Skinners streets, Red Stripe from a can and sheepskin jackets. Buster Shuffle has pulled a rabbit (rabbit, rabbit, yap, yap, rabbit, rabbit etc..) out of their impressive flat cap, this is an infectiously enjoyable release.
