EP Review: Gallery Circus – Chi-Town Dogs

Gallery Circus are made up of Geordie twin brothers Daniel and Graeme Ross – By Guy Shankland.  The duo’s initial release is brimming with a well travelled (from Newcastle to Chicago) confidence. Opener ’Holland On Fire’ has a simmering Britpop Blur-ish meets the White Stripes backbone which is aided by some distinctive vocals and a foot stamping riff. Title track ‘Chi-Town Dogs’ veers into Arcade Fire territory with devastating ease and effect. The emotion rises with every added instrument until they all meet gloriously then politely disperse. In keeping with the plethora of styles and delicate almost unseen touches ‘Sugar’ gets chopped on a chart friendly, albeit dirty mirror. It’s truck stop, hot dog, hooker baiting Rock ‘N’ Roll. Final cut ‘Flood’ has marching beat with a flag waving, celebratory chorus. Gallery Circus have delivered a uniquely invigorating E.P of four top quality tracks which both embrace and release the musical senses. One to watch.
