Last month Irish hardcore/metal act Bailer released their new EP PTSD. The EP is the first in a series of short EP’s that the band will release this year.
The band have also recently played some shows alongside HECK and Employed To Serve in Ireland. They will also appear at Siege Of Limerick Metal Festival in October.
They released a single In For A Penny, In For A Pound, before the release of the EP, their first material since their 2016 debut EP Shaped By The Landscape.
PSTD moves Bailer forward in a powerful and commanding direction, a vicious six minute journey of grinding hardcore that will get your heart racing.

We managed to catch up with vocalist Alex, guitarist Chris, bassist Dave and drummer Sean as they talked about the latest EP and more!
So how the release of PTSD gone so far? Does this stand for anything particular? Tell us something no one knows about the EP?
The release so far has been overwhelming! People are loving the new tracks and that mean’s a lot to us as we went for a new approach to our writing this time around. We’re really proud of the EP. ‘PTSD’ is obviously in relation to the disorder commonly found in military veterans suffering anxiety, and impending doom from the situations they experienced in their lives. A lot of people might not know but Hirō Onoda, an Imperial Japanese Army intelligence officer who fought in World War II and never surrendered until the 70’s (check out his story), is the face on the cover, In relation to the whole ‘PTSD’ theme. The lyrics and themes explored in the song’s we picked for this EP heavily relate to the symptoms and life cycles experienced in those who suffer with the disorder so we figured this was a fitting theme to go with.
How has the video for In For A Penny, In For A Pound gone down so far?
The video has gone down really well with a lot of positive responses online. The song also goes down killer at live shows. We really just had fun with this one, running just under 2 minutes with relentless riffing is always great fun and we felt the video had to match the intensity. You know it’s not all doom and gloom too, we always wanna have some fun with it.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Ooo, Tough one. We could be divided personally on that as we all have our own loves but I think it would be fair to assume we could write a fucking sick tune with Every time I Die. Riffs Riffs Riffs.
How pumped are you for Siege Of Limerick Metal Festival in October?
As always, super pumped. The Siege is fucking madness with awesome band’s blowing your head off at every turn in the mighty venue “Dolans Warehouse”. We played a couple of times and the show’s were our most memorable to date. Tall John does a great job of bringing something unique and awesome to Ireland each year, exposing people across the isle to the best Irish metal. Highly recommended, have a few pints with us this October.
How was it being picked up by Every Time I Die on Twitter?
Insane. We were all fangirling when we saw the list article being picked up, especially as the list was tough to pick! They’re coming to Dublin this November so it would be unreal if they took some influence from the songs we picked for their set. Haha
Can you tell us anything about the upcoming music you are set to release this year?
The most we can say right now is the studio is booked for August and we are set to release a good chunk of heft with the new tunes. We feeling really comfortable in the music we’re writing now and bringing new sounds to the table. Everything’s ready to go regarding music, song titles and artwork ideas, For now though you gotta wait till the Winter. Catch some of the new material at our next shows:
What do you get up to on your spare time while not in the band?
Like most band’s we all have our day jobs or college. Music definitely still plays a big part in all our lives whether it be checking out other band’s, working with people, putting on shows, etc.. Some of us game a lot in our spare time, mountain biking, skating. But yeah we spend a lot of time working on the songs, demoing and so on.
