After a disruptive year of member changes, 2015 was a turning point for Bedfordshire based band Young Kings. 2017 has already got the potential to be their biggest year yet as they have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, setting the foundations to their great yearly plan. Young Kings exploded onto the alt-rock scene with their first single Visitor which was premiered on Punktastic, earlier on this year. The single, both raw and emotional was also given air time by both Alex Baker and Johnny Doom of Kerrang Radio.
Young Kings have returned with a new and exciting single called Piece By Piece with hard hitting lyrics, and the band’s style leaning towards a more predominant post-hardcore influence.
The song depicts the singer William’s experiences of self-actualisation, after what has been a tumultuous and trying year for him personally.
William Ellis (Vocals) says this about the track –
‘I experienced some trauma back when I was younger that I pushed to the back of my mind.
‘When I dropped out of University into the real world and real relationships I just collapsed into a lull, got myself into debt and was unable to look after myself.
‘Since then, my friends have witnessed my weight go up and down, my personality change and I had to basically reassemble who I was after losing track of where I wanted to be, and this is what ‘Piece by Piece’ means to me. it’s a song about reaching out for help, and there shouldn’t be any stigma attached to something as simple as that.’
