Ten Two Thousand Trees bands to look out for

Two Thousand Trees takes place this weekend (6 – 8 July) where some of the biggest and up and coming bands get together and perform in front of thousands of loyal fans. Like last year, the festival is set to be a cracker and we’ve put together ten bands to watch out for over the weekend.

Mallory Knox (Thursday – The Cave and The Forest)

Breaking free of the restraints that bound them over the first two albums – inexperience, self-doubt, a restricting reverence to their heroes and a reputation as rock’s latest nice guys – Mallory Knox have returned to the rock scene with style this year with their latest album Wired. In just five years, Mallory Knox have firmly established themselves as pillars of the British rock movement. The Cambridge five-piece released three BBC Radio 1 A-Listed singles on last album Asymmetry, sold out London’s 3,700-capacity Roundhouse, played to huge crowds on the Reading & Leeds and Download main stages and reached #16 on the official UK album chart.

Black Foxxes (Thursday – The Axiom and The Forest)

Since the release of I’m Not Well, Black Foxxes have completed their first ever headline tour, taking in not only the UK but also the US, as well as performing at festivals all around the world. They have also performed alongside Taking Back Sunday for two short dates in February as well as You Me At Six in April. The released a digital only 3-track EP Headsick Sessions [Live] at the end of 2016, making their vibrantly heartfelt performances of My Wrecking Ball by Ryan Adams, Molten Light by Chad VanGaalen and Neige (acoustic) available to fans for the first time.

Dinosaur Pile Up (Thursday – The Axiom and The Forest)

Leeds three piece Dinosaur Pile-Up are fresh from playing over 100 dates in the last nine months (with the likes of Weezer, Basement, Deaf Havana and Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes) and recent have had their cult-album, Nature Nurture, pressed onto vinyl for the very first time in a limited run. Now though, with their third album Eleven Eleven, heralding darker, more intense vibes – and invoking comparisons to Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana – there’ll be no more sleeping for you.

Deaf Havana (Friday – The Cave and The Forest)

Still fresh from the release of their fourth album, All These Countless Nights on So Recordings in January, the lads have has appearances with Kings Of Leon, Aerosmith and Placebo as well as their first ever Glastonbury last month. A career best UK Albums Chart Top  chart position and sell-out UK headline tour followed earlier this year, a testament to the quality of the quintet’s efforts and a reward for the testing periods that helped shape its narrative.

Vukovi (Friday – The Axiom)

Ahead of their performance this weekend, Vukovi recently released their debut self titled album back in March. The band is formed of Janine Shilstone on vocals,  guitarist Hamish Reilly, Jason Trotter on bass and drummer Colin Irving. Vukovi recently toured the UK through May and June with special guests Press To Meco as well as a performance at Slam Dunk Festival.

Greywind (Friday – The Neu Stage)

The brother and sister duo released the video for Safe Haven back in May from their debut album Afterthoughts. Following their spine-tingling performances in support of Farro late last year, Greywind played a very special and first ever headline show, at London St. Pancras Old Church, in January. Consisted of Steph and Paul O’Sullivan, this ferocious Irish duo is not to be missed on Friday!

Louise Distras (Friday – The Neu Stage)

Louise Distras recently released her new single Outside of You and played a string of shows at Slam Dunk Festival last weekend.Louise’s path from hardship to heart-felt anthems began when she ran away from home, aged 16, armed with a guitar and the few chords she knew. Inspired by Nirvana and the punk-rock gateway the Seattle legends provided, Louise turned her back on the bullying that had made her life unbearable and decided to play music for anyone who’d listen.

Lower Than Atlantis (Saturday – Main Stage)

Having released Safe in Sound earlier this year, The Hertfordshire band have been celebrating a strong year in the world of music. The band currently consists of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Mike Duce, bassist Declan Hart, drummer Eddy Thrower and lead guitarist Ben Sansom. Fresh from a tour in March, the band are set to bring some of their classics from their self titled album that charted number 14 in Scotland.

Slaves (Saturday – Main Stage)

Kent Punk Duo Slaves were supposed to support Green Day at Scotland’s Bellahouston Park despite it being cancelled this week, the band instead played a intimate gig last minute at Glasgow’s O2 ABC. Laurie Vincen and Isaac Holman have been about since 2012 and they released their second album, titled Take Control on 30 September 2016, which features a collaboration with Mike D of the Beastie Boys on the track Consume or Be Consumed.

The One Hundred (Saturday – The Cave)

The band recently released their debut album last month titled Chaos & Bliss with the 12 tracks – including lead UK single / video Dark Matters and follow-up Monster. A genre-defying and bending outfit, The One Hundred‘s album has put them on the map with heavy music fans in the UK and Australia. Having already graced the stage in the UK and Europe with festival sets at Sonisphere,Reading and Leeds, plus Download and Slam Dunk Festivals, The One Hundred are ready to perform at 2000 Trees.
