Hot on the tail of their performance at last weekend’s Slam Dunk Festival, Bristol’s AREA 11 have released a new lyric video for The Processor. The video features a new mix of the track, taken from last years album Modern Synthesis which charted at #2 in the UK Rock Album Chart, and #27 in the UK album chart.
‘Processor is one of the more interesting songs on the record, and in a lot of ways it is the centerpiece of it; contained in it’s 6 minutes and 51 seconds are pretty much all the elements that make up the rest of the 10 tracks.
‘It also has one of the best choruses, and it would have made an ideal single if not for it’s length and unorthodox structure.
‘When Cooking Vinyl came to us with the idea of releasing it as a single, I realised pretty quickly that it would require not just simple cutting down, but would need to be completely re-imagined.
‘As I’ve produced and mixed all of our releases so far, I also thought it would be a good opportunity to bring in new opinions and ideas, and we were stoked that Adrian Bushby (Muse, Foo Fighters, Young Guns) was interested in working with us on this.
‘We worked together on creating the new structure, and he mixed it in a completely different way than I had, creating something which I think is a lot more aggressive and immediate.
‘The song retains it’s core elements, and lyrical themes, which really are a commentary on the creative process itself, but are now delivered in a more streamlined and direct way. We can’t wait for people to hear this new mix and hopefully fall in love with the song all over again, as we have.’
