The Smith Street Band pay homage to Aussie rock legends AC/DC with new video clip for track Shine. The original – filmed for influential music television show, Countdown – was directed by the legendary Paul Drane (pictured with the band, above) who also shot clips for the likes of Little River Band, Skyhooks and Cold Chisel.
Jumping on the back of a flatbed truck, The Smith Street Band took to the main street of their hometown of Footscray a few weeks back to shoot the video which emulates AC/DC’s iconic 70’s film clip for ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)’.
The video features a choir of lead singer Wil Wagner’s sister Lizzie Wagner along with Jess Locke, Mel Calia, Laura Quattrocelli, Sara Patrick and Ciume Lochner as well as cameo from Lachlan McSwain on bagpipes.
Shine is taken from The Smith Street Band’s fourth album More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me which debuted at #3 on the ARIA chart in their native Australia. The band head out on tour around Australia this week visiting some of the most iconic venues around the country before they make the trip to Europe and the UK for a headliner on these shores. Dates are selling fast with the London show at The Garage already sold out.
